the pieces that didn't need the morning to go right

The plaid is small and pink and shouldn't work on a street afternoon. It does.

Something about the ruffle at the hem - it moves before you do. Wore it with a plain white tee and felt like I had made a decision without really making one.

Black. Square neck. Eight panels. It sounds like a formula but it doesn't wear like one.

The fit is tailored without being tight and I kept coming back to it on days when I needed to walk somewhere and not think about what I had on. Which is either nothing or everything, depending on the day.

Cotton. Flowers. Black. That's the whole thing.

The cut is wide at the thigh and stops short and I wasn't sure at first. Then I wore them on a slow Tuesday and forgot I was wearing anything with a shape at all.

Gray check with a black collar and ruffled cuffs. The floral detail at the neck is small enough to almost miss.

It reads like something someone found and never told anyone about. I wore it loose, tucked at one side, didn't think twice about the rest.
